The Power of Music

In the realm of visual storytelling, the interplay between visuals, audio, and emotions is a delicate dance that can make or break the impact of a video. Have you ever listened to scary movies on mute and suddenly they’re way less scary? That’s a prime example of how crucial a song choice is when it comes to storytelling.

 

The beautiful thing about music is that it’s subjective. We all have a different interpretation of what song choice might be right, but that’s what makes for an individual and creative experience. Whether it's a movie, a TV show, a commercial, or even a YouTube video, the background music is a subtle yet powerful element that significantly influences how we perceive and engage with what we're watching. To show you how impactful music can be to the way we process an experience, we asked three members of our team to each choose a song from our library to support the emotional experience of this clip. They were not allowed to discuss amongst each other- this is what they came up with…

 

NO MUSIC:

Option 1:

Lets take the same clip with no sound, and add something vibey, fun and adventurous sounding, You now have a cool B-Roll clip from a Travel Vlog or even a shot out of an animal planet / discovery channel type documentary.

 

Option 2:

Ok so what if you want something that feels a bit dark and moody for your project.. maybe now that same clip is actually a scene straight out of a Murder Mystery and or Thriller Film.

 

Option 3:

Last option, You have a Tv series and you're trying to cap off that finale episode with a bang, something emotional but resolute. If we use a cue like this, something that sounds exciting but also feels like its building to a moment. it can leave your audience wanting more but feeling satisfied.
